Reasons for Attending



The Florida Basic Driver Improvement course is usually taken to satisfy one of the requirements listed below. If you belong to one of these categories, you will need to attend this course.


TCAC


You must complete a basic driver improvement course (Traffic Collision Avoidance Course) if you want to retain your driver license in the following circumstance:


you were a driver in a crash and are found at fault and

someone was transported to the hospital or

you had two crashes in a two-year period, which resulted in property damage greater than $50.


Remove Points Due to Traffic Ticket


If you receive a ticket for a non-criminal moving violation, and you do not hold a commercial driver license, you may elect to attend a basic driver improvement course in lieu of points on your driving record.


Insurance Discount


In some cases, you may choose to attend a basic driver improvement course to receive insurance discounts. This discount is solely at the discretion of your insurance company.


How To Get Your Learner's Permit?


We know you are eager to drive. But in order to get your Florida learner's license (driving permit), the Florida Department of Safety and Motor Vehicles requires the following:To earn a learner’s license, you must be at least 15 years old



Provide one primary (birth certificate, passport, etc.) and one secondary form of identification, which must be original or certified
Social Security Number, if issued
Proof that you completed the Drug and Alcohol Course Parental Consent Form, which must be signed in the presence of a driver license examiner or notarized if parent or guardian will not be present. If you are under 18 and are not married one parent or legal guardian must sign your license application. Step-parents may not sign unless they have legally adopted you.


You are required to take:The.DMV Permit Test covering the following areas:


. Road Rules– 20 multiple choice questions about traffic laws – must have 15 correct answers to pass.

.Road Signs - 20 multiple choice questions about road signs – must have 15 correct answers to pass.

Vision Test using an eye machine. To pass, you must have 20/40 (or better) vision in each and both eyes, with or without corrective lenses.

Drug and Alcohol Course (TLSAE)


The Drug and Alcohol Course is required for the following reasons:If you are a teenager looking to get your Florida Learner's Permit, you must complete the drug and alcohol course.


If you have never held a regular driver license in any state, country, or jurisdiction, you must complete the Drug and Alcohol Course before applying for a temporary driving permit (restricted driver license) in the state of Florida.


If you are under 21 years old and receive a notice of suspension for driving with a BAL of .02 to .05, you must complete the Drug and Alcohol Course in order to reinstate your driver license on a hardship basis.

The Drug and Alcohol Course is also commonly known as:Drug and Alcohol Test

Traffic Law and Substance Abuse Education Course (TLSAE)


Florida Advanced Driver Improvement Course


If your driver license was suspended in the state of Florida for points, or as a habitual traffic offender (Non-DUI related), or by court order, or because of death or personal injury you must complete this (advanced driver improvement) course.


Suspension Due to Points


Your license will suspended if you accumulate enough points within the following time frames:


12 points earned within 12 months results in a 30-day suspension

18 points earned within 18 months results in a 3-month suspension

24 points earned within 36 months results in a 12-month suspension


Revocation as a Habitual Traffic Offender (Non-DUI related)


Driver license will be revoked for 5 years. After 1 year from the effective date of revocation, you may request a hardship license.


Suspension Due to Court Order


You will need to complete this course before your license can be reinstated. If applying for a hardship license, you will need to provide proof of enrolllment.


Suspension Due to Death or Personal Injury


Your license will be suspended for 1 year.
